I am BIG on supplements for health and hair growth. If I don't do anything else in my regimen I TAKE MY SUPPLEMENTS. I believe that you should let it begin within...what good is a solid hair care regimen if you are feeding your body grease, caffine and sugar all day every day? Hair, after all, grows from the INSIDE out. What you put INSIDE your body for your hair is equally (if not more) important as what you put on your hair.
Most hair friendly supplements act in a dual capacity and will enrich and improve your overall health as well. Frankly, at least a multi-vitamin should be taken daily for health reasons, if for nothing else. (Note: even multi-vitamins have hair friendly dosages and ingredients)
As much as I love supplements and credit them to healthy hair growth, there is one caveat about them, you have to use them consistently in order to see health and hair benefits.
I take several different vitamins for health and hair benefits. Prior to starting a vitamin regimen it is a good idea to consult your physician especially if you take medication or on any form of horomonal contraception.

MSM 1,000 mg Capsule (3 per day): MSM (methyl sulfonyl methane) is sulfur a compound found naturally in foods such as cow's milk, meat, seafood, fruits and vegetables. MSM is commonly used in treatment of joint and arthritic pains. MSM has been proven to accelerate hair growth and extend hair growth cycles.
Biotin 5,000 mcg (1 capsule daily): Biotin is known as the hair, skin and nail vitamin. It is a sulfur bearing supplement and is a member of the B family. Biotin is said to increase hair growth and thickness.
B-Complex (1 tablet daily): The B-Complex vitamin and hair go hand in hand. Taking the right amount of this supplemet will increase shine, luster and growth of your hair. B-Complex is also known for increasing energy levels and easing some pre-menstural symptoms. **No longer taking**
Chlorella 1,000 mg (1 tablet daily): One of nature's superfuoods, chlorella is a high-protein algae and has about 5 grams of protein in one teaspoon.
