Well, Divas, I wasn't impressed with the whipped shea butter...I was really excited abot it, too. I wasn't prepared for the consistency of the "raw" unmixed butter and I expected the consistency to be creamier once it was whipped.
Here's what I used:
8 - ounces Shea Butter
1 - teaspoon Vitamin E Oil
2 - tablespoons Jojoba Oil
I melted the shea butter in the microwave and poured it into a glass bowl. Next, I added the oils and used my hand mixer to mix the mix for about 2-3 minutes. Then I put the "oil" in the freezer for about 2 minutes. I took it out the freezer and repeated the steps until the whipped shea butter reached my desired (or better yet hoped for) consistency. The whole process took about 20 minutes.
I'm mostly disappointed in how UNmoisturizing it turned out to be. So many people rave about how moisturizing shea is for your hair and how it's the only "moisturizer" they need - even though it's really not a moisturizer. I didn't even like it on my girls' hair.
I do however, LOVE it on my body and face!
I think I'm going to melt it and mix it with some other oils and make a shea oil and see how I like that on my hair. I'll probably use melted shea butter, melted coconut oil and some extra virgin olive oil...I don't know...
Here are some pics for your visual pleasure...
Here is what the shea butter looked like all by itself in the jar it came packaged in.
Here is my whipped shea butter all whipped up! It looks creamier in the photo than it actually is...

Regarding the microwaving of the Shea Butter, you may want to try heating it with a low flame/heat. It is said that microwaving changes the molecular structure of our foods, and shea butter would fall into the category of food.
Thanks for all of the great information you share on your site.
