I love the fact that my girls love their hair despite all the blond flowy that they see every day. I asked Baby Girl how she wanted to wear her hair for her graduation and she said "curly." So I did that for her and, yeah, she looked a little like Angela Davis, or Diana Ross back in the day, but that's OK! She wore her fro with pride and confidence! I must be teaching them SOMETHING right about their hair LOL cause even though it ain't the blond flowy, she was swangin' it like nobody's business! GO'HEAD BABY GIRL!!! MOMMY'S SO PROUD OF YOU!!! 
And NATURALLY someone (in the family) had to ask me why didn't I straighten her hair...
*SIGH*
I don't think ppl like straight hair because we're "brainwashed". If that's the case, black ppl are BRAINWASHING chicks to chop off their hair and go "natural". I think it's all up to the chick. I was natural all my life til bout 5 years ago and I HATED every moment of it. Possibly it was because I didn't really know how to "control" it and take care of it... but no matter, I've always like straight hair and to me it's soooooo much easier for me to deal with now. And no, I'm not "brainwashed". Some like it straight, some like it kinked up. Either way is BEAUTIFUL and I'm tired of "natural" black chicks talking down on the relaxed chicks like they're all mighty because they're fighting "the man" and going back to their "roots". Anyhoo, now that I'm through fussing, lol, love your girls hair, and if they love it, great!
