I'm always in need of a little inspiration and CaribGirl says that I'm HER inspiration, but in following her hair journey, the tables have CERTAINLY been turned! I'm not only very proud of her and her progress, but her journey so far, definitely keeps me focused on the long term!
What length is your hair?
My current length is BSL.
Tell me about your regimen? What do you do to cleanse, condition and care for your hair?
~ I relax my hair every 12-16 weeks.
~I condition wash about twice a week in the the shower.
~At least once a week, I will do a steamed moisturizing deep conditioner treatment.
~Every other week, I do a mild protein treatment followed by a moisturizing poo and moisturizing deep conditioning.
~I henna every 4-6 weeks, primarily for conditioning benefits but I love the burgundy tones in the sunlight.
~ I airdry most of the time and do rollersets about once or 2x a month.
~I moisturize and seal twice a day.
~I wear a baggied ponytail under a half wig which I wear mostly everyday.
~ I always wear a satin cap to bed to avoid hair breakage.
~I rarely use a blow dryer but will flat iron with a heat protectant about every other month to check my length.
~ I take a multi-vitamin, Super B complex, MSM, and flax oil daily.
What was the longest your hair had been prior to starting your hair journey?
The longest length before starting my hair journey has been shoulder length. I could not get it past this length and honestly thought that it could not grow further.
What are your top 5 hair growth tips?
1. Moisture/protein balance is so very important to maintain. Checking mine at each wash has helped me retain a decent amount of hair.
2. Baby your ends! They are the oldest part of the hair and need to be protected my making sure that they are moisturized, sealed with oil, and out of the way of any friction or excessive heat.
3. Protective styles are so important in retaining growth. I love wearing half wigs which give my hair a break and allow me to have a quick fresh look instantly.
4. Deep conditioning treatments with essential oils such as extra virgin olive oil, jojoba oil, or coconut oil increase moisture and manageability. Using peppermint oil helps blood circulation to the scalp and relieves stress.
5. Exercising and eating healthy seem to help my hair growth too. Eating fruits and veggies, increasing protein, drinking water, and exercising at least three times a week can really make a difference not only with your hair but your skin and nails too.
What has been the most difficult thing for you to overcome in growing your hair?
The most difficult part of my journey is growing in my hair line and crown area which are so prone to breakage. I am learning that they need more moisture than the rest of my hair. With God's grace, the areas are responding - slowly but surely.
What's the best hair growing advice can you offer to those just starting out their hair growth journey?
Aside from the growth tips I mentioned above, I would say that the following are important at the start of anyone's hair journey:
1. Take starting pics and make sure to take progress pics at least every 2-3 months. Sometimes I get doubtful or disheartned on my journey but after I review my porgress pics I get motivated.
2. Patience is so important. Reaching your goal won't come overnight but every time you follow your reggie, you are taking one step toward reaching your hair goal.
Where can I follow your hair journey?

Thanks! I pretty much started at the same place she did, so it's wonderful to know that APL and BSL are possible.
