I'm pretty set against heat now, too. My hair didn't grow longer until I stopped putting any additional heat on it between relaxer touch ups. And my hair didn't stop breaking off until I stopped relaxing my hair completely. I don't want any more heat to touch my precious coils again.
I like attention from guys, too, and I've actually been getting more of it since growing out my natural hair. The odd thing is, I've been getting more attention from white, Latino and Asian guys than I have from black men. Go figure.

Please do! Because I don't want the permanently straight thing happening to my luscious coils! Or the irreversible constant breaking and thinning.
And I know how the fellas feel when they see the silky straight hair blowing against cheekbones in the springtime, and you know I like attention lol. I didn't think that anything could be done with heat except murder, so my plan was to just make a little wig that looks real if I want to put heat on something.
