If you've been following the blog for a while you know how I believe how important supplements are to maximize your hair growth, but WATER is equally of not more important to hair growth. You cannot experience the benefits of supplements without water. Water will encourage your vitamins to enter your blood stream at a more rapid rate and will assist in ridding your body of toxins. If you are going to make the commitment of incorporating vitamins into your regimen - and I highly recommend that you at least take a daily multi-vitamin - you are automatically committing to stepping up your water intake, too.
How much water should you be drinking? Well, we have all heard that we should be drinking at least 8-10 eight ounce glasses of water each day; the truth is we ought to be consuming half of our body weight in water...'Yeah, right!' is probably what you are thinking, but I am not telling you to drink 50 pounds of water LOL!! What I am telling you is that if you weigh 100 pounds, you should be drinking AT LEAST 50 ounces of water per day. Doesn't it make sense that a person who weighs 155 pounds needs more water than a person who weighs 125? Even if you aren't investing in supplements - DRINK YOUR WATER!
So how is water going to make my hair grow??? For starters the average strand of hair is comprised of up to 25% water and when your hair has sufficient water amounts in it, you will find that your hair is more moisturized and shiny. Further, since the human body is made up of mostly water, water is critical for the production of healthy cells. Healthy, well hydrated cells are necessary for hair growth...if your "hair growth cells" are thirsty, they will not function properly, thus leaving your hair dry and dry hair is much more fragile and prone to breakage.
Let your hair growth begin within!
Cheers!

I am horrible with drinking water like I should, but I will strive to get better after reading the articles that link drinking water to hair growth.

One of my BEST remedies is if I eat ANYTHING with salt, sugar, fat, or grease in it, I drink ACV mixed with pure water before I stuff myself with something healthy! That's the best shortcut in the wooooorld. It just goes on in and kills all of the fat stuff, so fi you exercise you'd be even HOTTER! When I'm doing good eating healthy, I just drink the ACV like every three days or so just to remind my body that ain't NO intruders welcome! and from the small small grams of fat and sodium that sneakily accumulate but I kill them before they even get a chance to say hello to the world.. AND I stuff myself with potassium in case any sodium think she's sneaking a visit in my body!!! Kill the sodium! Long Live Potassium!!!! Because sodium is fats identical twin and there is no way of knowing which is which so by keeping the slt out of your body, you can see exactly how much your body can take before it gets FAAAAAAAT *the crowd cheers!*

I was just chastised by my doctor for not drinking enough water. I agree with AHS...it's so hard. I guess it's just boring, but the bottom line is it's very necessary. Thanks for the timely post. I'm really going to make a bigger effort to get in more water.

Darling Cancerian is silly! Living makes me fat lol, what is the remedy for that lol
My ex boss and some other ladies at the job started getting these hormone injections and when I tell you ol girl dropped down to half her size, it was amazing... but I don't trust it. If it was that fabulous and safe the celebs would be on it and since celebrities do ANYTHING to look good, if they aint even taking the shots, I sho aint!

Okay, well I guess a bottle of water an hour before sauna will be a quick way to quickly digest it, then kick it out! I'm like "Oh, you're done growing my hair? Okay, well byebye now!"

You're going to get me for saying this, but water makes me fat, and can't have that! (I don't eat salt either. Water weight and fat are identical twins!) I count my water intake as all of the fruits that I consume everyday (I hustle vitamins hehehe)

Well, I tend to drink water when I am thirsty, it feels kind of silly measuring ounces and/or drinking when I'm not thirsty... also I prefer a well balanced diet to multi-vitamins because I know my body absorbs nutrients more readily in the form of food. A diet based on whole foods, such as whole grains like millet, quinoa, rice, oats, accompanied with lots of legumes, vegetables, fruit, nuts and seeds totally eliminates the need for supplements. That sounds really preachy, I know, but its completely true:)

To also add to the support of water drinking, We breathe off one LITER (32oz) of water a day.. even more if we are sleeping, exercising, singing, walking, laughing... you get the picture! So to at least replenish what you are using is about half your bodyweight in ounces for most people.
Great post!

I was JUST thinking about my water intake today. My career has changed and I can't drink water like I used to (just sit at my desk and drink water for 8 hours straight). I have to figure out how to keep water in my life. Thanks for the info.
Also, I just ordered some copies of the book so if you are looking for any contests giveaways, I have an autographed copy.
