This video was recorded on February 14, 2011 & I'm feeling good! I honestly think that the long term transition was the way to go for me! My hair is long enough to do pretty much anything that I want to do AND, even though I cut a LOT of hair off between the two chops [approximate 8"], people don't notice any change in the length of my hair! This is becuase I mainly wore twist/braid outs during my transition.
I'm growing more comfortable with the length...but all in all, I'm happy! I shoulda did this a LONG time ago!

Is it possible to reach the C-suite without straight hair?
Article written by Marcia Wade Talbert for Black Enterprise
Are natural hair and locs unprofessional in corporate America? That was the subject broached by the friend of a friend on Facebook recently. The young lady stated that she likes natural hairstyles, but because she works in an entry level position at a conservative investment bank, she doesn’t think it is “work appropriate,” and that it would be difficult to move up the corporate ladder with an “ethnic” hairstyle. The statement made me wonder whether many women on Black Enterprise’s 75 Most Powerful Women in Business list wore their hair in natural or “ethnic” hairstyles. A cursory glance produced about five, including Ursula Burns, CEO of Xerox and one of the most powerful women in business. I couldn’t think of any C-suite men who had locs or short afros. When I informed the young woman on Facebook what I found, she countered that those five women were at the top of their game, and that their hair may not have been "kinky" on the way up. Hmmm. She’s got a point.

I recorded this vlog the day after I did my final big chop - February 8, 2011. I posed a question at the end of this video, is what I did considered a "big chop" why or why not?
After posting this video on my YouTube channel last night - February 21, 2011, I've gotten some very good feedback as to how some people feel about the "big chop".
In my opinion, a "big chop" is when one cuts or chops a significant amount of their hair's length.

Aquarius (January 20 - February 18) -- Fashion-forward hair
Aquarians love going against the grain, so to speak, and often find themselves as the avant-garde in fashion. If you spot someone sporting a hairstyle on the "next" end of the scale or pushing the envelope, chances are it's a fashion-forward hairstyle donned by an Aquarian. They love to use hair as a social experiment to free what's beneath the hairdo.
Are you an Aquarius?
When is your birthday?
What is your favorite hairstyle?

SOOOOOOOOOOOO.........You read it RIGHT! I am 100% natural as of today! When I woke up this morning I had ZERO intentions of cutting my hair, BUT the spirit moved me to go ahead and let the rest go, so I did!
When I announced my transition back in August, I told myself that I was going to rid myself of the remaining relaxed ends on 02.15.12 - my bday...but after I did the first mini-chop, I told myself I was going to cut the rest of the relaxer out on 07.04.11...see, I wanted to chop on a date that has some kind of significance, like New Year's or something...anyway, I couldn't wait any longer!
I'm ready to start focusing on growth again and as long as I'm holding on to relaxed ends, I can't do that.
Now that the relaxed ends are GONE I can get back to my growth journey!
Ironically, my hair is about the same length as it was when I started growing my hair out back in 2007 - a full shoulder length - nearing arm-pit length.

In the last video I showed you step by step, how I achieve my "super DUPER defined" twist-out & today I want to show you what my twist out looks like after 3 days and 2 nights of wearing it! I typically get about 4-5 days of wear from a twist-out and this [along with my cheat fro] have been my go-to hair styles for this transition.

And she looks absolutely AMAZING!!! I mean I'm used to the loud, ish talking, weave wearing, back stabbing, dang-near pornographic New York that she portrayed on the hit reality shows Flavor of Love & I Love New York but I actually find it very refreshing to see her like this! She looks GREAT! I hope she keeps the look.
Clearly she was using those weaves as a protective style! GO'HEAD MISS NEW YORK! [if New York can go natural, ANYONE can!]
