I stumbled upon an ENTIRE website dedicated to Miconazole Nitrate as it is related to hair growth. And guess what?!
Yep.
I'm sharing it with you!!!
(and everyone sings together: "THANK YOU, LHDC")

I read and hear time and time again about people who incorporate essential oils into their healthy haircare regimen. And time and time again the majority of those do not consider their use of an essential oil to be a topical growth aid. Well, I highly disagree. I say that if you are using an essential oil on your hair and scalp you are using it as a growth aid whether that is your intended purpose or not. Before I get to the nitty gritty, let me define what a topical growth aid is in my own words:
Topical Growth Aid: any oil, cream, powder or substance that is put on the hair and/or scalp which promotes, stimulates, encourages, enhances or increases the growth rate of your hair or aids in/treats hair loss
With that definition in mind, let's explore the benefits of a few essential oils when they are used for hair purposes...

If you have been blessed with the gift of raising a Black child into a woman, chances are you are very concerned with her hair length and hair in general as you are about every other aspect of her health and development. Before you grab for your bottle of M-T-G to put on your daughter's hair, think about the reactions that some adults get from using TGAs. As grown as your daughter may seem at the age of 4 or 8 she is still a child. Keep in mind that our daughters are NOT mini-mees and their hair care regimens should not be treated as such. Use caution when you want to do to your daughter's hair what you do to your hair; especially when it comes to topical growth aids. I do not reccomend using growth aids like Mega Tek, Shapley's M-T-G or miconazole nitrate on small children.

I found this article on HairLossTalk.com and I thought that it provides a GREAT explanation to why many women (including myself) experience an increased amount of shedding when they begin the application of topical growth aids. Although this article is not specific to any of the growth aids that I have tried or written about on LHDC (M-T-G, miconazole nitrate, essential oils and Mega Tek), the concepts and theories discussed clearly apply to just about any application that is put on your scalp in order to grow and/or regrow your hair. The main idea of the article is that even though increased shedding seems counter-productive to the use of a topical growth aid, it (the shedding) may actually be a very good indication that the stuff is working! It isn't about how much hair you seem to be losing, but how much hair is actually staying on your head!

There will always be buzz and controversy in the hair-growing community about topical growth aids. The questions will always be there: do they work? do you use them? why would anyone use them? what is the point of using them? etc. etc. etc.
Well, since I've been in the hair-growing community for a decent amount of time, AND I've used at least 3 different topical growth aids, I wanted to offer up my opinion and experiences with them.

Essential oils have been proven to stimulate hair growth when used consistently for an extended period of time. Though there are many essential oils that can be used to aid in my hair growth journey, I have fallen in love with 2 in particular:
Rosemary & Peppermint
