Buffalo, NY (WIVB) – When donating to News 4 Huddle for hunger Campaign, you don’t just return the favor Feed More WNY. You help the multiple organizations you serve. Hearts for the homeless He is one of them.
It has become a one-stop-shop for the needy across the Riverside area of town. Thrift store, mobile soup kitchen and food store all under one roof on Tonawanda Street.
Hearts opened for the Harvest Food Pantry just two months prior to the outbreak in western New York. Her partnership with Feedmore provided local families with food, at a time when they needed it more than ever.
“We went from 5,000 meals in January, to an average of around 20,000 meals per month,” said Nicholas Calandra, CEO of Hearts for Homeless.
It also provides services that meet the needs of the community. The Baby Needs Program provides basics like nappies and formula for struggling parents.
While it is all under one roof currently, it plans to upgrade and modernize its food pantry. This step is expected to take place by the end of the year.
