Lockport, New York (WIVB) – One person was killed after six people were shot during the night during a Halloween party on South Niagara Street in Lockport.
The shooting happened before 12:30 on Saturday morning. Police say Cheyenne Farewell of Medina died at the scene.
News 4 met many people who knew goodbye from her time in City High School, including the principal and one of Farewell’s former teachers.
They are both devastating and say that she was always a hard worker in school and someone that students looked up to.
“She’s just a pretty meaningless girl, very bright, and friendly. So ready to help anyone. It’s just not logical,” said Eric Helwig, an English teacher at City High School.
“I hope everyone learns from what Cheyenne taught us that you always persevere in everything, always try to improve the world around you and try to help everyone else around you,” said Mark Kruzinski, principal of the City Central School.
Lockport Mayor Michael Roman issued the following statement about the accident:
