ORLINS COUNTY, New York – The Orleans County Sheriff’s Office will host a flash event in October in honor of National Medicines Recover Day.
On Saturday, October 24, the sheriff’s office will collect medicines and sharps for safe and proper disposal from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Orleans County Public Safety Building, located at 13925 State Route 31 in Albion.
The sheriff’s office says that drug recovery such as these events significantly reduces the risk of prescription drug diversion and misuse, while increasing awareness of this public health issue.
Due to COVID-19 restrictions, MPs will collect items from participants in their vehicles. The sheriff’s office requires that anyone looking to attend the event wear a face covering.
This event is held in cooperation with the US Department of Justice – Drug Enforcement Administration, the Orleans County Sheriff’s Office and the Orleans County Department of Public Health.
