Buffalo, New York – Erie County Executive Director Mark Bolloncars and Erie County Health Department Commissioner Dr. Jill Burstein have provided an update on the county’s coronavirus progress after the long weekend.
As COVID-19 cases rise across the region, Poloncars said that while the county is seeing a spike in cases, it is also seeing a rise in testing being done. For the week ending November 28, Poloncars says the county reported 53,699 tests for COVID-19.
“I don’t like to see a higher daily rate of positivity … We have seen more days with higher positive rates,” Poloncars said.
The Erie County Department of Health reported that on November 29, 439 new cases of COVID-19 had been reported. The daily positive rate for Sunday was 9.2 percent.
Poloncars shared that half of the COVID-19 cases in Erie County that have been reported since the start of the pandemic have been in the past weeks ago.
