(WIVB) – Low-risk fall sports could start on Monday, the Division 6 Sports Board said Wednesday.
Low-risk sports include cross country, field hockey, golf, gymnastics, soccer, girls ‘swimming and girls’ tennis.
However, each region and league can make their own decisions about which sport to start.
The decision comes after more than 70 school districts have voted, 67 of them, in favor of the September 21 date for the start of school sports.
“The postal ballot card is part of our constitution and provides a way for us to do business,”
Sixth Division Chief, Brett Banker said. “The procedure allows for consistent messaging and decision making from across our division and the results speak for themselves.”
Competitive cheerleading, football and volleyball have already been moved to Division 6 to March 1.
