Disney dropped the first trailer for the second season of The MandalorianFirst direct work, nominated for an Emmy Award star Wars Television series produced by John Favreaux. Starring Pedro Pascal as Din Djarin, the titular Mandalorian, the series takes place a few years after the fall of the empire and before the emergence of First Division.
(Spoilers for S1 below.)
The basic premise is that after the empire’s defeat The Jedi returnThere was a period of chaos and lawlessness as the new government struggled to emerge from the rubble. Bounty hunter for Pascal is “a lone fighter in the outer reaches of the galaxy, far from the authority of the new republic.”
In S1The Mandalorian is looking for more profit from Greve Karga (Carl Withers), leader of the Bounty Hunters Guild. Karga directs him to the “client” of Werner Herzog, an unknown figure who hires the Mandalorians to get back valuable assets. It turns out that this is “Child(Also known as “Baby Yoda,” performed by puppeteers), who became the instant star. Internet (and Herzog, it seemsHe fell in love with “Baby Yoda” (even though he’s not The Yoda, just a baby with a similar type – which makes him around 50 years old).
Long-buried Mandalorian altruism appears when he realizes that the client’s intentions are to harm (and possibly kill) the child, and he runs away with the child instead. This puts a bounty on its head, too, and it followed much of the unlikely duo’s first season as the Mandalorian sought to find a safe haven for the child. Their main stalker: Former Empire ruler Mouve Gideon (Giancarlo Esposito). Fortunately, they found useful allies in several places, as well as in Cara Dune (Gina Carano), a former rebel shock soldier from the devastated planet Alderaan. And it turns out that the child himself has some of his own capabilities.
As Ars’ Sam Machkovech It was noted in his review From last year’s pilot episode,The Mandalorian is being star Wars For a generation of fans who remember the movie series as aesthetic, soul, and promise of an ethically mixed discovery. He particularly praised the “balance of practical influences, carefully molded exotic costumes, and intentionally cheesy CGI,” adding, “that brief CGI moments It can be tolerated given the impressive set design, John Williams’ caliber of all-new compositions, and a cast of actors savoring their poses, tones, and moments of tension (whether for action or for comedy). “
The series earned 15 Emmy nominations for its eight-episode Freshman Outing. And lo and behold Easily landed a spot On Our Best TV Shows of 2019. “Favreau’s brainchild has proven to be a killer for most Star TrekLike storytelling in a live action star Wars the product,” Machkovech Books. “Even better, his geek advance of the week and the evolution of the new planet were completely paired with the proper story of the samurai, as anchored by the religious, enthusiastic, and discordant Mandu.”
So naturally we’re all excited about the second season (and pre-production has started a potential third season already). Carano, Withers and Esposito return for a second season after the latter survived being brought down by Carga and The Mandalorian at the end of the season. Unfortunately, we bid farewell to many of S1’s great characters, including killer Fennec Shand (Ming-Na Wen); Cowell (voiced by Nick Nolte, who performed Misty Rosas in an animated face mask), Ignute Moist farmer and former slave of the empire who gave his life to protect the child; IG-11 robot (voice of Taika Waititi).
New S2 cast members include Rosario Dawson as Ahsoka Tano, and ex-Anakin Skywalker Jedi Padawan, who is now serving as a spy official for Rebel Alliance; Katee Sackhoff as Bo-Katan Kryze (reprising her voice role from Cloning Wars And The rebels Animated series), which leads the Mandalorian group known as Nite Owls; Timothy Oliphant as Cobb Fanth, former slave who now owns Boba Fett’s favorite shield / bounty hunter; And Timoera Morrison as Boba Fett – a bit surprising since the character apparently died The Jedi return.
The official hypothesis S2 is suitably vague: “The Mandalorian and Child continue their journey, facing enemies and rallying allies as they forge their way through a dangerous galaxy in the turbulent age after the collapse of the galactic empire.” The trailer doesn’t offer much more than that. Mandu is instructed to reunite the child with his own kind, although exactly where those species may lie is something he must discover for himself. that will It involves searching for a “group of magicians called the Jedi” – the enemies of the Mandalorians of eras. We get scenes from space battles, storm soldiers, our duo wandering around a distant icy world, and of course, lots and lots of Baby Yoda. The Mandalorians remain a formidable opponent, as a group of idiots learns at their expense.
