Buffalo, New York – In Washington, DC and across the country women gathered for rallies on Saturday to try to send a message less than three weeks after Election Day.
One of those marches was held in Niagara Square on Saturday afternoon. The event was organized by the West New York Center for Peace, and the organizers say their message has focused on ending violence against women.
“Women, especially of color, have been severely repressed,” said Vicky Ross, executive director of the West New York Center for Peace. “There are murdered and missing women, and indigenous women, and there are all kinds of crimes against black trans women in particular, and there are all kinds of crimes against women.”
The event featured different speakers, spoken word feel, music, and more. The Peace Center also encouraged social distancing and the wearing of masks during the event.
